Our mission and emphases
A discipleship and missionary training center
Texas Missionary Bible College exists to glorify God, edify the local church, thoroughly train believers in the Word of God, and help make the Great Commission visible through lives prepared to follow wherever He leads.
Eight recurring emphases shape the curriculum, the classroom atmosphere, practical training, and the kind of life TMBC seeks to reproduce.
1. Grace
Students learn the character and nature of God, especially His grace. Truth is not separated from His heart, mood, and character.
2. The Finished Work of Calvary
The cross and what Jesus Christ has fully accomplished shape the believer’s identity, rest, spiritual growth, and service.
3. The Word of God and Categorical Doctrine
The inspired Word of God is the absolute authority. Students learn to think with God precisely, understand context, compare Scripture with Scripture, and know what they believe and where it is found.
4. The Eternal Purpose
This includes missions, evangelism, discipleship, the cross-life, the will of God, and the particular direction He has for each believer.
5. The Body of Christ
Students learn the value of the local church, fellowship, body life, spiritual gifts, and their place in the Body of Christ.
6. The Faithfulness of God
Students are continually directed toward who God is, what He has promised, and His ability to lead, keep, provide, and complete what He begins.
7. The Love of God
The love of God is not merely a subject. It is the source, atmosphere, and expression of Christian life, discipleship, fellowship, and mission.
8. The Anointing
Students are encouraged to depend upon the Holy Spirit, become sensitive to His presence and leading, and seek His strength and enablement rather than relying upon natural ability alone.
Vertical, horizontal, and directional
TMBC seeks to develop a student’s vertical relationship with God, horizontal relationship with other believers, and directional relationship toward a lost world. These are not competing emphases. They belong together.
